What is VEX?
In the VEX Robotics Competitions, we design and build a robot to compete against other teams from around the world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as we work as a team to accomplish the common task while all specializing in our own areas of expertise. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national level, and champions go on to compete against the best in the world at VEX Worlds each April. Click here for more info.
How often do you meet?
We usually meet once a week during the school year.
I don't know anything about programming. Can I still do robotics?
Our team has many different sub-teams within the team, and most members decide to be a part of multiple depending on their own interests. Sub-teams include the build team, electrical/sensors team, programming team, business/finances team, awards team, and the outreach team. No matter your area of expertise, we likely have a job for you.
What's the competition like?
Competition at the regional qualifier level involves 7-10 teams competing with their robots in a tournament style bracket. Currently we travel to Purdue University each year for the regional qualifier. If we win the Excellence Award or the Tournament Champion, we then move on to compete at VEX Worlds in Louisville, KY, which involves 60+ teams in the VEX U division.
